Writer Elizabeth Gilbert postponed the publication of her book The Snow Forest, which is set in Siberia, Russia

On June 6, the writer announced the date of publication, but the negative reaction of readers from Ukraine prompted her to cancel this decision.

Gilbert announced this on her Instagram page.

"It is not the time for this book to be published," the writer said. She did not specify whether and when the book would be published.

Elizabeth Gilbert is a writer from the United States, best known for her book Eat, Pray, Love, which remained on The New York Times bestseller list for 187 weeks. The book has been translated into more than 30 languages, including Ukrainian.

On June 6, Gilbert announced that her next book, The Snow Forest, will be published in February 2024. It will tell the story of a family of religious fundamentalists in Siberia during the Soviet period.

Gilbert's Ukrainian fans have criticised her decision to release a book about Russia. "I've read the messages, and I respect them," she said and announced the cancellation of the planned release of the book.
