US President Biden announces the launch of a military operation in the Middle East in response to the attack in Jordan

Washington, DC, USA (Svidomi) — US President Joe Biden has announced the launch of a military operation in the Middle East in response to the attack on a US military base in Jordan, a statement published on the White House website says.

The US Central Command reported conducting airstrikes on more than 85 Iranian-linked targets in Iraq and Syria.

The attacks involved, among other things, long-range bombers flown from the United States.

"U.S. military forces have struck targets at facilities in Iraq and Syria that the IRGC and affiliated militias use to attack U.S. forces. Our response began today. It will continue at times and places of our choosing," President Biden said in a statement.

It will be recalled that three US soldiers were killed in Jordan as a result of a drone attack on an outpost.
