US House will vote on aid for Israel separately from Ukraine and border security packages
Washington, DC, USA (Svidomi) — The US House of Representatives will vote on a separate aid bill for Israel without offsetting spending cuts, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson said, NBS reports.
He criticised the Senate for the joint bill, which includes aid to Israel along with funding for Ukraine and a package of tough border security and asylum laws.
"...the [Senate] leadership is aware that by failing to include the House in their negotiations, they have eliminated the ability for swift consideration of any legislation," Johnson wrote.
The bill, which provides $17.6 billion to Israel, "as well as important funding for US forces in the region," will be voted on next week.
The White House had previously opposed the bill on separate aid to Israel. National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said that "the President would veto a bill dedicated to Israel alone."
It will be recalled that the US Secretary of State said that the suspension of US aid to Ukraine has already led to consequences on the battlefield.
