Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar restores 100% of services across Ukraine and abroad
Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar has resumed all the company’s services, both in Ukraine and abroad.
The company's president Oleksandr Komarov announced this during a national telethon.
The last service to be restored was international roaming.
Kyivstar still has some problems with its internal monitoring and analytics systems, which will help it find out about the outflow of Kyivstar subscribers to other mobile operators.
After the cyberattack, Kyivstar started implementing new cyber defence methods in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Special Communications Service.
On December 12, Kyivstar suffered a large-scale hacker attack, which resulted in the loss of connection and Internet access for its subscribers. The Russian group Solntsepek claimed responsibility for the attack. The SSU said it was linked to Russia's Main Intelligence Directorate.
The SSU also launched an investigation under eight articles, including sabotage and treason.
Kyivstar CEO Oleksandr Komarov said the hacker attack was very intense. Part of the virtual IT infrastructure was destroyed. The hackers partially achieved their goal.
