In the match for the bronze, Ukraine defeated Chile. It was the first time the Ukrainians had played in a volleyball tournament.
Ukraine's men's national team debuted at the Volleyball Challenger Cup with a victory over China. After that, they fought to reach the final but lost to the Turkish national team.
Ukraine's men's national team played against Chile at almost the same time as the women's team, also competing for bronze. The women's team lost to Colombia.
