Ukraine and Germany agree to build a wind farm around Chornobyl NPP
Annalena Baerbock signed the declaration during a meeting at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, German media outlet ARD reports.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock visited a power substation 50 kilometres from Kyiv and learnt about Ukraine's preparations to ensure energy supply before the approaching winter.
During her meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov, she raised the topic of developing alternative energy sources in Ukraine. According to the German foreign minister, Ukraine should make greater use of renewable energy sources.
A wind farm may be built around the Chornobyl NPP in the future. At a meeting at the Ukrainian Ministry of Environment, Baerbock signed a declaration of intent. Green electricity from Chornobyl is also a future version of peace, Baerbock emphasised.
At the end of 2022, Germany made a €130 million contribution to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine. During her visit to Kyiv, Baerbock promised to continue supporting Ukraine on its path to the European Union
