Turkish President proposes setting up a commission for a detailed investigation of the Kakhovka dam explosion

During his conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Recep Erdoğan proposed setting up a commission for a detailed investigation of the Kakhovka dam explosion attending "experts from the warring sides, the United Nations and the international community, including Türkiye."

The Turkish President's Office reports this.

Erdoğan suggested following a negotiation method similar to the "grain deal" format.

The Turkish President stressed that it is impossible to prevent human losses as the conflicts continue, so the idea of returning to negotiations should dominate.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Recep Erdoğan about the humanitarian and environmental consequences of the Russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka HPP, including the risks to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. He handed over a list of Ukraine's urgent needs to eliminate the dam's explosion consequences.

"Türkiye's voice is important when it comes to the withdrawal of occupation troops from Ukrainian territory. It is also important when it comes to the return of our illegally detained citizens, in particular Crimean Tatars, and the continuation and expansion of the grain initiative," Ukraine's President wrote following the conversation.
