Three dead, seven wounded in shelling in Donetsk region

On the night of October 23, Russia attacked Ukraine with 81 Shahed combat UAVs and unidentified drones, as well as an X-31P guided missile. The Air Defence Forces reported shooting down 57 UAVs in the Odesa, Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Sumy, Cherkasy, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Poltava, Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions as of 9 a.m.

In the Donetsk region, partially occupied since 2014 and located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine, Russia shelled Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, Toretsk, Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Mykolaipillia, Oleksandro-Kalynove, Oleksiyivka, Pleshchiyivka, Riznykivka, and Stinky. Thirty-five residential buildings, three cars, a gas pipeline, two cars, a power line, two educational institutions and two administrative buildings were damaged. Over the day, 3,027 shellings were recorded in the region. Three civilians were killed and seven injured.

In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russian army shelled Sumy, the Verkhniosyrovatske, Mykolaivka village community, Mykolaivka settlement community, Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putivl, Nova Sloboda, Hlukhiv, Shalyhyne, Esman, Druzhba and Okhtyrka communities. Forty-one private houses, two critical infrastructure facilities, an educational institution, a car, two combine harvesters, an outbuilding and a shop were damaged. 

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, south-central Ukraine, the Russians shelled Nikopol, Marhanets, Pokrovske, Myrove, Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka communities. Infrastructure, seven private houses, two outbuildings, a greenhouse, a car, a stadium, two petrol stations, gas pipelines and power lines were damaged. A fire broke out. One civilian died and another was injured.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022, Russian troops attacked Lobkove, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, Huliaipole, Malynivka, and Novoandriivka. Twenty-two residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were destroyed. The regional military administration reported no casualties. During the day, 411 attacks were recorded in the region.

In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russians shelled the area around Balka Zhuravka, deploying artillery systems along with unmanned aerial vehicles.

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians shelled Kharkiv, Lisne, Cherkaska Lozova, Kupiansk, Lisna Stinka, Novoplatonivka, Borova, and Kucherivka. Non-residential buildings, windows, 15 private houses, one outbuilding, two cars and a lock-up were damaged. One private house was destroyed. Four civilians were injured, and one died. 

In the Kherson region, south of Ukraine, partially occupied since 2022, Kherson, Antonivka, Chervonyi Maiak, Stanislav, Sofiivka, Veletenske, Mykilske, Shliakhove, Inhulets, Novodmytrivka, Beryslav, Novoberyslav, Odradokamianka, Zymivnyk, Prydniprovske, Novovorontsovka and Trydoliubivka came under Russian shelling. A critical infrastructure facility and a medical facility were hit. Three multi-storey buildings, 24 private houses, lock-ups, an outbuilding, a gas pipeline and private cars were damaged. Two civilians were injured.

In the Cherkasy region, central Ukraine located along the Dnipro River, the Russians attacked the Cherkasy, Zolotonosha and Uman districts. The bus station building, the administrative building of a private enterprise, some cars, the roof of a private household, and a private lock-up were damaged

In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russian army shelled Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Snovsk and Horodnianka communities. The border guards reported 80 explosions.
