In Poland, court overturns ban on protests at Yagodyn-Dorogusk border crossing
The District Court of Lublin has cancelled the mayor's protest ban at the Yagodyn-Dorogusk crossing on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
RMF24 reports.
Since November, Polish carriers have been blocking four checkpoints with Ukraine, including Yagodyn-Dorogusk, to protest against the EU's liberalisation of transit rules for Ukrainian carriers.
The local mayor withdrew permission for the protests in Dorohusk on December 11, citing possible material damage and risk to jobs. The carriers said they would appeal the mayor's decision in court.
The court ruled that the mayor could not have prevented the protests because he did not specify the damages caused by the blockade.
In addition, the judges argued that the protests were not intended to block customs clearance entirely but only to slow it down.
Polish carriers plan to resume the protest at Dorohusk on December 18.
