These companies still operate in the Russian Federation.
This was reported by the NACP.
Philip Morris' net profit in the Russian market increased by 45% in 2022. The company paid Russia $136 million in taxes, although it had promised to sell its Russian assets.
On the other hand, Japan Tobacco earned 11% of its global revenue in the Russian market. The company promised not to invest in Russia and not to buy advertising, but this did not affect its sales.
The two companies own about a quarter of the global tobacco market.
