Slovakia extends ban on imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower from Ukraine until the end of the year

Slovakia's ban on grain imports from Ukraine will last until the end of the year.

This was reported by the Aktuality publication.

"We must prevent excessive pressure on the Slovak market to remain fair to domestic farmers," said acting Prime Minister of Slovakia Ľudovít Ódor.

Ódor stressed that the Slovak government will work with the European Commission and EU member states on a pan-European and systemic solution during the national ban. The acting head of state declared Slovakia's readiness when such a solution is found.

"The ban does not apply to the transportation of goods through our territory, which expresses our solidarity with Ukraine and the placement of its goods in target markets," the Ministry of Agriculture of Slovakia explains.

It will be recalled that on September 15, the European Commission did not extend the embargo on Ukrainian grain supplies. In response, Poland and Hungary imposed a national ban on imports of Ukrainian grain.
