Seven killed, including two children, and 64 injured in night shelling of Lviv

On the night of September 4, Russia attacked Ukraine with Iskander-K, Х-47 М2 Kinzhal, X-22 and X-101 cruise and aerial ballistic missiles, and 29 Shahed combat UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Force shot down four X-101 missiles, three Iskander-K missiles, and 22 Shahed-131/136 UAVs; six more drones lost radar contact (went down), and one changed its direction to Belarus. Targets were shot down in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Volyn, Ternopil, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Poltava, and Sumy regions.

In Lviv, located 75 kilometres from the border with Poland, the Russian night attack killed seven civilians, including two children. Another 64 residents, including eight children, got injured. At least seven people are in serious condition. Historical architectural monuments of local significance located in the UNESCO historic area and buffer zone were also damaged, including the Centre for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and fifty residential buildings. Information about the victims and damage is being updated. 

In the Poltava region in the centre of Ukraine, the Russians shelled an educational institution in Poltava city on the evening of September 3. The attack killed 53 people and injured 298. As of 11 am on September 4, five more people may be trapped under the rubble. The work of the State Emergency Service continues.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region in south-central Ukraine, the Russian night shelling hit Kryvyi Rih. Five people got injured, including one child. The city's hotel, educational institutions, shops, pharmacy, high-rise buildings, and transport were damaged and destroyed. The Russians also shelled the communities of Nikopol, Marhanets, and Chervonohryhorivka with artillery and UAVs. As a result, one civilian was injured in Nikopol. Civilian infrastructure, a market, private houses, outbuildings, and power lines were damaged.

In the Donetsk region, partially occupied since 2014 and located on the frontline, Russia shelled Kostiantynivka, Kurakhove, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Vesekyi Hai, and Novoselydivka. The Russians killed one civilian in Veselyi Hai and injured three others in Novoselydivka and Pokrovsk as a result of artillery shelling and guided aerial bombs. The shelling damaged or destroyed residential buildings, businesses and critical infrastructure.

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, over the past 24 hours, the Russians attacked Krasnokutsk, Novoplatonivka, Novoosynove, Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, Hutianske, Ruska Lozova, and the Oskil community. The shelling of Makarove resulted in the death of one civilian and the injury of three others. Residential buildings, outbuildings, and power lines were destroyed, and 1520 hectares of forest plantations caught fire.

In the Kherson region, partially occupied since 2022, the Russian army shelled Kherson, Antonivka, Sadove, Kizomys, Stanislav, Poniativka, Veletenske, Beryslav, Virivka, Tiahynka, Burhunka, Sablukivka, Tomaryne, Novoberyslav, Havrylivka, and Karierne. As a result of Russian attacks, three civilians were killed, and five more were injured. Cultural institutions, cell phone towers, a factory, high-rise buildings, private houses, warehouses, garages and private cars were damaged.

In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians attacked the communities of Sumy, Verkhnia Syrovatka, Krasnopillia, Yunakivkam Shalyhyne, Esman, Znob-Novhorod, and Nova Sloboda with UAVs, mortars, and missiles. One civilian got injured as a result of one of the strikes in Sumy. There is no information about the damage.

In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russian army fired artillery, mortars and UAVs at border villages in the Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk communities. There is no information on casualties or damage. 

In the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied since 2022, the Russians attacked Piatykhatky, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, and Malynivka with UAVs, MLRS, and artillery. In total, the Russians struck 268 times in seven settlements. One woman was wounded in the attacks. Residential buildings and infrastructure were damaged.

In the Mykolaiv region in the south of Ukraine, Russia shelled the Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities with artillery. Residential buildings, outbuildings, vehicles, and power lines were damaged. 

In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia,  the Russian army again attacked Nevske and Makiivka with artillery and UAVs. There is no information on casualties or damage.
