Russian army shells supermarket in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, killing at least nine people and wounding 35 more

Russia shelled a supermarket in Kostiantynivka with cannon artillery at around noon on August 9. The head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, reposts that as of 13:40, 35 people got injured, and 9 others were killed. Two people were also killed in Kostiantynivka on August 8.

The Russians conducted 2872 attacks in the region over the past day. Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Selydove, Toretsk, Ukrainsk, the villages of Niu-York, Zoria, Kleban Byk, Mykhailivka, and Novoocheretuvane came under fire. The Russians killed four people and wounded 12. Residential buildings, administrative buildings, an educational institution, a house of culture, a bank, a library, a boiler house, a shopping centre, a cafe, a shop, a car park, an automobile repair shop, a petrol station, a garage, vehicles, and power lines were damaged. 

The Russian army attacked Ukraine with 27 Shahed combat drones. The Air Force reported shooting down all the combat drones in the Kyiv, Poltava, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia to the east, the Russians shelled Kupiansk, Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, Pisky-Radkivski, Slobozhanske, Zolochiv, and Borova with guided aerial bombs, missiles, and MLRS. Five people were wounded. Private houses, apartment buildings, a shop, and gas networks were damaged.

In the Kherson region, partially occupied by Russia since 2022, the Russian army shelled Kherson, Antonivka, Sadove, Prydniprovske, Komyshany, Shyroka Balka, Nadezhdivka, Zorivka, Bilozerka, Kizomys, Romashkove, Veletenske, Mykilske, Poniativka, Beryslav, Zolota Balka, Tiahynka, Havrylivka, and Burhunka. Six people were injured in the shelling. The Russians hit a critical infrastructure facility, a preschool, multi-storey buildings, and private houses. 

In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians attacked the communities of Yunakivka, Khotin, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Hlukhiv, Esman, and Seredyna-Buda using guided aerial bombs, UAVs, artillery, and mines. There are no reports of casualties.  

In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, the Russians fired mortars and artillery at the communities of Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. There were no casualties.

In the Mykolaiv region in the south of Ukraine, the Russians attacked Ochakiv and the Kutsurub community. There were no casualties. Dry grass caught fire as a result of the fall of the UAV fragment. 

In the Dnipropetrovsk region in south-central Ukraine, the Russians attacked Dnipro and the communities of Myrove, Marhanets, and Pokrovske with artillery and kamikaze drones. Infrastructure was damaged, but no people were injured.

In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied by Russia, the Russians shelled Nevske and Makiivka with artillery and multiple rocket launchers.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022, the Russians attacked Kamianske, Novoandriivka, Huliaipole, Preobrazhenka, Bilenke, Prymorske, Zaliznychne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, Malynivka, and Novodanylivka. Private houses were destroyed as a result of the strikes. There were no casualties.
