Russia probably wants to sow enmity between the intelligence services of Ukraine and the United States

For this purpose, the Russians may use former KGB officer Yurii Shvets. He has lived in the United States since the nineties and is popular on social media.

Shvets claims that it was CIA Director William Burns who warned Ukraine in January 2022 about the Kremlin's plans to seize the Antonov airport.

Instead, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, claimed that this information had been provided by the deceased MDI officer Denys Kireev. He hinted that pro-Russian forces within the SBU had killed Kireev because of this. Shvets criticises this version and claims that Kireev bribed the SSU and MDI leadership. He claims that Kireev was killed by "Ukrainian patriots" from the SSU.

Until 1990, Shvets worked as an intelligence officer in the KGB. And then, allegedly, he became disillusioned with the Soviet system and subsequently moved to the United States, where he still lives.

On the eve of the full-scale invasion, Shvets launched a YouTube channel. Since then, he has managed to gather more than a million subscribers.
