Russia illegally holds at least 158 Kremlin prisoners

According to the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea, this is the number of illegally detained Ukrainian citizens held by Russians in the temporarily occupied Crimea. 

At the same time, the head of the Crimean Human Rights Group, Olha Skrypnyk, believes that about 200 people were held in Crimea at the end of 2022. In addition, Russians illegally detain Ukrainians in other temporarily occupied regions. However, there is less public information about their fates. 

On January 18, the occupation court in Crimea refused to release four prisoners of the Kremlin.



Edem Bekirov, Enver Krosh, Vilen Temeryanov and Rinat Aliyev are still in pre-trial detention. The Russians illegally detained them in August 2022 — the Mission of the President of Ukraine in Crimea.

Edem Bekirov, Enver Krosh, Vilen Temeryanov and Rinat Aliyev are to be further illegally detained in the pre-trial detention centre. 

The lawyers of the illegally imprisoned Sofie Shabanova and Emil Kurbedinov sought to review this decision and filed an appeal with the occupation court, but the Russians refused them.

As a reminder, on August 11, 2022, Russian security forces illegally detained four Crimean Tatars in the so-called Canköy Hizb ut-Tahrir case. 

On January 19, it became known that the illegally detained Dmytro Zakharov was being held in the Simferopol pre-trial detention centre. 

In June, the Russians illegally detained Zakharov in the temporarily occupied Henichesk. For six months, they denied the abduction — the Crimean Human Rights Group.

On June 16, Russian security forces illegally detained citizen Dmytro Zakharov in the temporarily occupied Henichesk. In July, they released a video in which Zakharov slandered himself. 

At the same time, Russian security forces deny holding Zakharov. 

However, on January 19, it became known that the Kremlin's prisoner was being held in Detention Centre No. 2 in the temporarily occupied Simferopol. 

On January 24, Russian security forces illegally detained six Crimean Tatars in Crimea. 

Ekrem Krosh, Ayder Asanov, Refat Seidametov, Osman Aburazakov, Leman Zekerayev and Khalil Mambetov were illegally detained in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The occupation court arrested them unlawfully for two months —  the Crimean Solidarity.

 24, Russian security forces illegally detained Ekrem Krosh, Ayder Asanov, Refat Seidametov, Osman Aburazakov, Leman Zekerayev and Khalil Mambetov.

The six Crimean Tatars had previously held single pickets and supported other prisoners of the Kremlin. However, the security forces refused to allow their lawyers to visit the men. 

The next day, the occupation court illegally sent them all to detention for two months. Mambetov has a wife with cancer at home who needs care. 

As a reminder, at 4 am on January 24, Russian security forces illegally entered six houses in the temporarily occupied Canköy district.

On January 25, Russians illegally detained 34 Ukrainian citizens in the temporarily occupied Simferopol.

The occupation court in Simferopol was considering the cases of Crimean Tatars illegally detained the day before. But, unfortunately, people who came to support the prisoners were also detained unlawfully — Crimean Solidarity.

On January 25, the occupation court in Simferopol considered the cases of six Crimean Tatars illegally detained the previous day. 

To support the abductees, other citizens of Ukraine gathered near the building of the so-called court. However, Russian security forces illegally detained them as well and then took them to three occupation police stations. 

In total, the Russians illegally detained 34 Ukrainian citizens. Among them is Ruslan Belialov, a person with a disability.

The security forces have already filed a "suspicion" against one of the detainees: Kazim Ablialimov is accused of organising the action. He faces administrative arrest.  

The occupation courts will consider the cases of the illegally detained on January 26.
