Russia fired at least 24 ballistic missiles made in North Korea at Ukraine — Prosecutor General of Ukraine
Kyiv, Ukraine (Svidomi) — Russia has used at least 24 ballistic missiles that were handed over to it by North Korea to attack Ukraine, Ukraine's Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin reported.
"In total, from December 30, 2023, to February 7, 2024, the enemy launched 12 strikes on seven regions of Ukraine with this type of missile," Kostin said.
As a result of these attacks, 14 people were killed, and 70 others were injured. The most massive attack with these missiles was recorded on February 7. North Korean missiles struck the capital of Kyiv, Kharkiv, which is 30 kilometres from Russia, and Pavlohrad in the Donetsk region, where the front line runs.
The origin of the missiles is confirmed by the findings of the Central Scientific Research Institute of Armaments of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Interagency Working Group of the Prosecutor General's Office.
"These missiles have different marking numbers and symbols that may indicate their Korean origin. Also, the nature and extent of the damage (crater size, destructive effect) and the flight trajectory were different. In other words, these missiles have a larger diameter than similar models of Russian and Soviet origin," Kostin said.
It will be recalled that on January 11, 2024, Ukraine received the first evidence of Russia's use of North Korean missiles in attacks on its regions.
