Russia fails to get into the UN Human Rights Council for 2024-2026

Russia did not receive enough votes to get into the UN Human Rights Council for 2024-2026.

The UN press service reports this.

The quota of Central European countries was allocated to Albania and Bulgaria. Russia received 83 votes out of the required 97 for election.

All 193 members of the UN General Assembly attended the meeting.

The General Assembly suspended Russia's membership in April 2022.

It will be recalled that in September, the BBC reported that Russia's representatives were seeking to rejoin the UN Human Rights Council.
