Romanian Defence Ministry tightens flight restrictions near Odesa region border

On September 14, the Romanian Ministry of Defence announced additional flight restrictions in the airspace adjacent to the border with Ukraine.

The restrictions apply to the Dobrogea de Nord region between the cities of Sulina and Galaţi and cover an area of 20-30 kilometres from the border to an altitude of 4,000 metres.

The Romanian authorities have banned the flights of any manned or unmanned aircraft, except for state aircraft, in the designated area. "Amid the activation of Russian attacks on the Ukrainian Danube ports, the extension of restrictions is necessary for the facilitation of a more effective monitoring and control of the use of air space," the ministry commented on the decision.

It will be recalled that after the Russian attack on Odesa ports on the night of September 13, the wreckage of a drone was allegedly found in Romania again. The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned a chargé d'affaires to Russia over the incident.
