Polish protesters block key road into Germany

Poland, (Svidomi) — Polish protesters are blocking the border with Germany. The strikers have blocked a major highway into Germany, the A2 motorway in Świeco near the town of Słubice, which joins the German A12 in Frankfurt am Oder. This route is important for international traffic.

The protest will stop the movement of approximately 17,000 trucks crossing the Polish-German border every day, Polsat News reports.

The blockade began at 1 p.m., with protesters blocking traffic in both directions on the A2 motorway. Initially, the farmers stated that the blockade would last until March 20.

After negotiations with local authorities, companies and hauliers, they decided to hold a 24-hour warning strike.

Earlier, Polish protesters blocked the border with Ukraine. During these actions, they dumped Ukrainian grain transiting through Poland.
