Norway, Denmark and Sweden announce new aid packages for Ukraine
The prime ministers of Denmark, Sweden and Norway have announced the next aid packages for Ukraine.
They made the announcement at a conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the Nordic Summit.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will present a new package of support for Ukraine to his parliament on 14 December. The aid package will amount to almost €1 billion. The package will include, among other things, tanks, ammunition, drones and other equipment.
Ulf Kristersson, Prime Minister of Sweden, announced a winter aid package to support Ukraine's civilian infrastructure.
"Continued financial support for Ukraine is the most important issue for us at tomorrow's and Friday's, and possibly Saturday's meeting. And I emphasise once again that the future of Ukraine is in the European Union," Kristersson said.
Norway plans to provide Ukraine with 3 billion kroner ($218 million) in budget support for the government, payments, strengthening the defence industry and the NASAMS air defence system.
Some of the vehicles will be shipped from the country's warehouses, while others will be ordered from manufacturers for delivery at a later date.
"We must do everything we can to help provide assistance to people who are already under great pressure and are once again experiencing a very harsh winter," said Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
It will be recalled that on December 13, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Norway on an unannounced visit. He took part in the Nordic Summit.
