NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg proposed to adopt a three-part package for Ukraine's accession to the Alliance
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has proposed that the Alliance adopt a three-part package for Ukraine's accession to NATO.
He said this during a conversation with journalists.
This package includes more hands-on support and a multi-year programme to ensure full interoperability between Ukrainian and NATO forces.
«This will bring Ukraine closer to NATO, strengthen political ties with the establishment of the NATO-Ukraine Council, which will be inaugurated tomorrow with President Zelenskyy, and then lift the Membership Action Plan (MAP) requirement. This will transform the membership process for Ukraine from a two-step process to a one-step process,» Stoltenberg said.
The Secretary General also added that the Allies «will return to their commitment to provide military support to Ukraine to help it liberate more territory on its path to membership».
