MFA: Russia should not be allowed to return to the UN Human Rights Council until it is held accountable for all its crimes
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has responded to Russia's attempts to return to the UN Human Rights Council. The ministry said that Russia should not be allowed to return to the UN Human Rights Council until it is held accountable for all its crimes.
The statement was issued by Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko.
"With this step, Russia is trying to prove that it can continue to violate human rights grossly, commit war crimes and crimes against humanity with impunity," he said.
In April 2022, Russia was expelled from the UN's leading human rights body after its troops launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
It will be recalled that, according to the BBC, Russia is trying to rejoin the UN Human Rights Council. The journalists obtained a copy of a document that Russia is distributing among UN members asking for support.
