In 2016, a Russian woman in New York tried to poison a Ukrainian woman to steal her identity — the statement of the Queens District Attorney

The victim survived and went to the police. 

Russian Victoria Nasyrova tried to kill a Ukrainian woman with a poisoned cheesecake. However, the Ukrainian woman survived and discovered that Nasyrova had stolen her passport and work permit. Both women had similar appearances. 

According to the BBC, the poisoned woman's name is Olha Tsvyk. 

She went to the police.  Seven years later, a court found Nasyrova guilty of attempted murder. She faces up to 25 years in prison. The court will decide on the punishment on March 21.
