IAEA approves resolution on immediate return of Zaporizhzhia NPP to full control of Ukraine
The IAEA General Conference approved a resolution to return Zaporizhzhia NPP to full control of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.
The resolution on nuclear safety in Ukraine was put forward by Canada, Finland and Costa Rica during the 67th IAEA General Conference.
The resolution calls on Russia to withdraw military and unauthorised personnel from ZNPP and return the plant to the control of the competent authorities of Ukraine. The IAEA demand was supported by 69 countries.
"Ukraine's admission to the IAEA Board of Governors and the adoption of a resolution calling for the return of our ZNPP under Ukrainian control is proof that the civilised world is with us," said Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
It will be recalled that Ukraine became a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors for 2023-2025.
