Germany will not become a party to the war - neither directly nor indirectly - Scholz on the decision not to supply Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine

Berlin, Germany (Svidomi) — German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has commented on the decision to rule out Taurus long-range missiles delivery to Ukraine. He does not want Germany to be a warring party in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

"Germany is Ukraine's biggest military supplier in Europe. It will remain so. But one thing is clear: we will not become a party to the war, either directly or indirectly. These two principles guide me in all my decisions," he posted on his Х.

Focus writes that the German Chancellor told journalists Berlin "should not associate itself ... with the goals that this system achieves".

"I am surprised that some people are not moved at all, that they do not even think about whether what we are doing could in any way lead to participation in the war," Scholz added.

Earlier, the German Bundestag recommended that Ukraine be supplied with long-range missiles. The bill submitted by the opposition included the name Taurus, but the Bundestag rejected it. The coalition submitted its own bill, which did not mention the name of the missiles but said they were long-range.
