German Bundestag recommends providing Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles
Berlin, Germany (Svidomi) —Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the Rada Committee on National Security, Yehor Cherniev, said that the German parliament has recommended providing Ukraine with long-range missiles. Yehor Cherniev is currently in Berlin. He was present at the vote.
Officially, the document refers to "long-range systems for targeted strikes deep in the rear of the Russian aggressor".
The first vote on the opposition's proposal failed, while the German parliament supported an almost similar one from the ruling coalition.
Three hundred eighty-two deputies voted in favour, two hundred eighty-four against, and two abstained from voting.
Cherniev writes that these are de facto Taurus missiles.
He explains that "the opposition was dragging their own draft, with the name Taurus in it." The coalition compromised on a text on long-range weapons. Germany has no other missiles for such purposes.
"The decision is up to Scholz. We are gradually raising the level of the issue to achieve a result," writes Deputy Chairman of the Rada Committee on National Security Cherniev.
