German Minister of the Interior threatens to ban Russian athletes if they are allowed to compete in the Olympics

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has threatened to deny entry to Russian athletes if the International Olympic Committee (IOC) allows them to compete.

Minister told this to the newspapers of the Funke media group.

"It is unacceptable that Ukrainian athletes should face athletes competing for a country that is killing so many civilians in Ukraine. Countries hosting major sporting events are not powerless. You can control whether Russians can participate by issuing visas," Faeser said.

The minister considers offering the warmonger Vladimir Putin a propaganda stage a betrayal of all the values of sport, so "the IOC must prevent this catastrophic signal."

However, she does not believe in a German boycott of international sporting events, which would harm its athletes.

It will be recalled that the President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach supported the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions with neutral status.
