Denmark to increase military aid fund for Ukraine by $2.6 billion
The Danish government plans to increase Ukraine's military assistance funding in 2023-2024 by over $2.6 billion.
Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated this in an interview with Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR).
In total, Denmark will allocate about $2.8 billion in military aid to Ukraine in 2023. The Danish government has also decided to donate another $1.5 billion in 2024.
«The Ukrainians use a lot of weapons and ammunition every day, both light and heavy, but the consumption on the battlefield is unfortunately very, very high because the level of aggression is also high from the Russian side, and therefore more money is needed,» Frederiksen emphasises.
Denmark created a special investment fund for Ukraine worth $133 million.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Danish government for this decision: "This major contribution will further strengthen the combat capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the short and medium term. Our strength is in unity!"
It will be recalled that on May 2, the Danish government decided to provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth more than $250 million.
Ukraine has also already received Caesar self-propelled howitzer from Denmark. In addition, the Danish government and the Netherlands will provide Ukraine with 14 Leopard 2 tanks.
