Bulgaria’s Parliament votes to supply unserviceable S-300 missiles to Ukraine
Bulgaria's parliament has approved a decision to transfer unusable S-300 missiles to Ukraine, which Ukraine will then repair.
This is reported by The Sofia Global.
The debate on the transfer lasted more than three hours. Initially, they were open, but during speeches by Defence Chief Admiral Admiral Emil Eftimov and Air Force second-in-command Brigadier General Petyo Mirchev, the debate moved to a closed format.
However, the official results of the vote were not announced. A representative of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms party told journalists about the decision. The pro-Russian Renaissance Party opposed the decision, and the Bulgarian Socialist Party left the meeting room.
The head of the parliamentary defence committee, Hristo Gadzhev, said that the country would transfer unusable ammunition to Ukraine, which "even the manufacturer cannot repair because it is too old".
Gadzhev assured that the number of missiles to be provided to Ukraine is minimal and will not in any way endanger the combat readiness of the Bulgarian army.
It will be recalled that the country also wants to provide Ukraine with 5.56x45 mm ammunition.
