Bulgaria plans to transfer defective S-300 missiles to Ukraine

The Defence Committee of the Bulgarian Parliament has approved the transfer of unserviceable S-300 missiles to Ukraine.

The Sofia Globe reported this.

The country also wants to transfer 5.56 calibre cartridges to Ukraine.

The explanatory note to the draft law states that Bulgaria does not have the capacity to repair this ammunition. Instead, Ukraine has the opportunity to use such defective ammunition and put it into service with the Ukrainian army.

The decision must be supported by the National Assembly, and then the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence will decide on the number of missiles and ammunition to be transferred to Ukraine.

A final agreement is also expected to be signed on the transfer of about 100 armoured personnel carriers from Bulgarian warehouses to Ukraine.
