Aleksandr Pumpyansky, the son of a Russian oligarch under sanctions, still lives in Switzerland
Aleksandr Pumpyansky, the son of a Russian oligarch, continues to live with his family in Switzerland despite the sanctions imposed on him.
This was reported by investigative journalist Mykhailo Tkach.
Until 2022, Aleksandr's father, Dmitry Pumpyansky, was the head of Russia's largest pipe manufacturer TMK. He was present at Vladimir Putin's first meeting with businessmen after the start of the full-scale invasion.
In July 2022, the Swiss newspaper Blick reported that the oligarch's son had asked for the sanctions to be lifted, which had forced Pumpyansky to move from Geneva to Türkiye.
In January 2023, journalists of Ukrayinska Pravda found the chalet of the oligarch's son near the resort of Courchevel. According to French registers, the property is under arrest due to sanctions imposed on Pumpyansky. However, in the house, the journalists met people who said they were renting the property.
The journalists decided to check out Pumpyansky's house in Geneva as well. As of January 2023, no one lived there. However, in July, the son of the Russian oligarch returned to live in the house.
On March 16, 2022, Switzerland imposed sanctions on Aleksandr Pumpyansky.
