A forest has been on fire in the Chernihiv region for a week now due to Russian shelling

The fire started a week ago because of Russian shelling of the Semenivka community. Firefighters are unable to extinguish it due to the ongoing hostilities nearby.

The Northern Forest Office of the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" reported this.

Firefighters cannot use their equipment to extinguish the fire because of the fighting on the border.

Foresters create mineralized strips in forests and around settlements. These are special barriers that limit the spread of fire by covering combustible materials with a mineral layer of soil.

Russians shell the border of the Chernihiv region almost daily, dropping guided bombs.
