If the court allows the militant's arrest to be extended, his extradition to Ukraine will be possible.

The Finnish media outlet Ilta-Sanomat reported on the detention of Petrovsky.

Law enforcement officials have not commented publicly on the case, but the Finnish public broadcaster Yle confirmed this information.

Since 2004, Yan Petrovsky has lived in Norway. In 2014-2015, he took part in the Russian war against Ukraine. Because of this, in 2016, Norwegian law enforcement deported the militant to Russia. He has been under sanctions since 2022.

It is not known how Petrovsky ended up in Finland under the name of Voislav Torden, but he is currently detained by the Finnish police. The court will decide whether to extend his arrest. This decision is necessary for his extradition to Ukraine. Petrovsky is wanted by the Security Service of Ukraine on suspicion of creating a terrorist group.
