A drone manufacturing facility caught fire in the Russian city of Izhevsk

Izhevsk, Russia (Svidomi) — A workshop for the production of drones caught fire in the Russian city of Izhevsk, almost 2,000 kilometres from Moscow and the border with Ukraine, the local department of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry reports.

The fire covered an area of 3,500 square metres. At 5:30 a.m., firefighters reported that the fire was extinguished.

Officially, the Russian authorities stated that the company where the fire occurred was related to the production of professional detergents and disinfectants.

However, the fire occurred at a site that was handed over to the Izhevsk Unmanned Systems Research And Production Associated LLC. in September 2023, RFE/RL's Russian Service Radio Svoboda reported. Presumably, this production facility was used to assemble drones of its own design, the Granat-4.

In addition, the Russian Ministry of Defence states that 33 Ukrainian drones were allegedly shot down over five regions of Russia overnight.
