Zaporizhzhia NPP reactors are cooled from a pond that is not connected to the Kakhovka reservoir

Energoatom Head Petro Kotin said that the decrease in the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir does not directly affect the decrease in the water level in the ZNPP cooling pond.

"But there will be an issue with the power supply if the level is decreasing in this pond or the basin. Water from the Kakhovka reservoir was used for this purpose. But ZNPP regulations provide for such a scenario," Kotin said.

At the same time, the National Security and Defense Council members were informed that at least 150 tonnes of machine oil had leaked into the Dnipro River, and there was a risk of further leakage of more than 300 tonnes.
