World Aquatics allows athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in competitions under neutral flags

The World Aquatics Bureau has defined the conditions under which athletes from Russia and Belarus can participate in competitions.
The press service of World Aquatics reported this.
In addition to the introduction of reliable anti-doping measures, the Bureau also pledged to check athletes for support for Russia's war against Ukraine. The flags and anthems of these countries will be banned from the competition.
According to the Bureau, 67% of athletes support the participation of Russians and Belarusians if they meet strict criteria.
"A maximum of one Individual Neutral Athlete from Russia and one from Belarus per event will be allowed to compete at World Aquatics competitions," the organisation said.
It will be recalled that on August 29, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) also allowed neutral athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in international competitions under certain conditions.
