Western-made Components in Russia’s Shahed-136 Attacks

Iran's Shahed-136 kamikaze drones are manufactured using components from the United States, Japan, Canada and Switzerland.

This is stated in the report of the International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR)

Together with the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission and Truth Hounds and Global Diligence LLP, they analysed the fuselages of Shahed-136 drones used by the Russian army.

The wreckage of the Shahed-136 contains microprocessors, circuits, power modules and other components manufactured in Western countries. In particular, analysts recognised components from Adesto Technologies, Analog Devices, Marvell Technology, Murata Manufacturing, Tallysman, STMicroelectronics and others.

At the same time, Analog Devices stated: "Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Analog Devices ceased business operations in Russia and in the Russian-backed regions of Ukraine and Belarus and immediately ordered all distributors to cease shipping to these regions."

The report emphasised the need for stronger export controls and supply chain scrutiny to prevent the export of Western components from third countries to Russia.

"This includes stricter scrutiny of export licences and full verification of end-user certificates," the report reads.
