Viktor Pavlushchyk is the new head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention in Ukraine
Kyiv, Ukraine (Svidomi) - In Ukraine, the Selection Commission has elected the new head of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP). It is Viktor Pavlushchyk.
The Selection Commission gave him six votes. The commission admits that Pavlushchyk has the best professional experience, knowledge and qualities for the head of the Agency, as well as meets the criteria of competence and integrity. Previously, Pavlushchyk worked as a senior detective, head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau's detective department.
Transparency International Ukraine reports that Pavlushchyk sees the priority tasks in his post as analysing the implementation of audit recommendations and recommendations of the European Commission, reducing bureaucracy in the NACP, its digitalisation, and regulating the agency's work.
His candidacy must now be approved by the Ukrainian government.
The National Agency on Corruption Prevention was established in 2015. It is responsible for
- monitoring and verifying declarations of public officials and monitoring their lifestyles;
- controlling public officials for conflicts of interest;
- monitoring the financial activities of political parties;
- the Anti-Corruption Strategy and the State Programme for its implementation;
- and identifying corruption risks in legislation and draft laws.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the NACP has been working on the War & Sanctions project, a database of people and companies that support Russia's war against Ukraine. The list of international sponsors of the war includes 26 companies, including Xiaomi Corporation, METRO, Auchan and Bonduelle.
