US announces new $300 million aid package for Ukraine
Washington, USA (Svidomi) — For the first time since the beginning of the year, the United States has announced a new $300 million aid package for Ukraine, which includes HIMARS missiles, US President Joe Biden's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said.
To allocate the package, the White House used the funds saved from contracts signed by the Ministry of Defence to replace weapons that the US had previously sent to Ukraine.
According to Sullivan, the US president has instructed his team to use these savings for an urgent aid package.
"It includes artillery shells, GMLRS missiles for HIMARS. This is what Ukraine really needs to hold the front lines under Russian attack and repel the Russian offensive in the east and other parts of the frontline," said Jake Sullivan.
Currently, US aid remains blocked as Congress has not agreed on funding. The United States provided the last aid package worth $250 million on December 27, 2023.
