Ukrainian troops advance over a kilometre into Russian defences in the Berdiansk direction

Valerii Shershen, the spokesman for the Joint Press Centre of the Tavriia Defence Task Forces, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had advanced more than a kilometre into the depths of Russian defences in the Berdiansk sector.

Valerii Shershen said this on the air of the national telethon.

"Heavy fighting continues in this area between Ukrainian and Russian troops. Ukrainian strike units are consolidating their positions on the lines they have reached.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are conducting aerial reconnaissance, clearing mines, inflicting fire damage, and carrying out counter-battery operations.

The situation in the Melitopol direction remains unchanged.
