Ukrainian ombudsman to appeal to the UN over new video of Ukrainian prisoners being shot

The DeepState Telegram channel has published a video showing a group of soldiers shooting two other soldiers coming out of a dugout, one of whom is holding his hands behind his head.

Ukraine's Human Rights Ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets, said he would appeal to international organisations. He also hopes that intelligence will identify the perpetrators of the crime.

The Ukrainian ombudsman said this in a commentary to hromadske.

"The video clearly shows that the Ukrainian militaries are doing all the necessary things to show that they are unarmed, that they are surrendering and do not pose any threat to the Russian military. So they should have been automatically taken prisoner and given the status of prisoners of war," Lubinets says.

According to DeepState, it happened near Stepove, Donetsk region. The Russians then entered the positions of the Ukrainian 45th Separate Rifle Battalion.

It will be recalled that on April 30, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced that Ukrainian law enforcement agencies were conducting a pre-trial investigation into 265 Russian crimes against Ukrainian prisoners of war.

At that time, it was known about 1,500 victims, 73 of whom were intentionally killed.
