Ukrainian fencers to boycott international tournaments with athletes from Russia and Belarus in them

The Ukrainian Fencing Federation has announced their decision to boycott competitions in which athletes from Russia and Belarus will take part. It is not just about matches at the competitions but a boycott of the tournaments in general.

The federation's statement also mentioned that Ukrainian coaches and judges would not participate in competitions in which Russian or Belarusian athletes will take part.

"It was decided not only not to duel Russian and Belarusian athletes directly at competitions of any level, but also for our athletes, coaches, and judges not to participate in competitions in which Russian or Belarusian athletes will take part with the active involvement of athletes from other countries," the federation said in a statement.

In March, the International Fencing Federation (FIE) decided to lift the suspensions of athletes from Russia and Belarus. This was voted for at an extraordinary FIE congress by a majority of votes.
