Ukrainian citizens may be held captive by Hamas militants — Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel

Hamas militants may have taken Ukrainian citizens hostage, according to preliminary reports.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel Yevhen Korniychuk said this on the national TV marathon.

"We do not know the whereabouts of a certain number of people, and it is possible that some of them may be in captivity. We were informed about this by Israeli services, but this is not yet confirmed information. Please do not make a fuss, but it is most likely to be true," says Yevhen Korniychuk.

Ukrainian diplomats are cooperating with the Israeli police to find the Ukrainian citizens. The search is carried out using both DNA and fingerprints.

The death toll of Ukrainians in Israel is seven. Nine citizens got injured, and another nine are still missing.
