Ukraine's National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) adds the Austrian banking group Raiffeisen Bank International to the list of international sponsors of the war

After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the bank continued to operate in Russia and officially recognised the illegal armed groups of the "l/dpr".

"The bank took 200% advantage of the sanctions that led to the withdrawal of its competitors from the Russian market. Today, Raiffeisen is one of the most important financial channels through which Russian business entities transact in dollars and euros. Thus, the bank receives huge profits, from which it then finances the budget of the aggressor country with its taxes," the NACP said.

In the autumn of 2022, Russian Raiffeisen Bank updated its net profit record, earning €790 million in the third quarter. This figure quadrupled year-on-year. The bank's Russian subsidiary accounted for almost 70% of the group's net profit.

In 2022, the bank paid 4.8 times more to the Russian budget than in 2021. The Russian subsidiary of Raiffeisen Bank paid €559 million to the Russian budget. It is equal to the cost of about 95 Kalibr missiles.

Raiffeisen provides favourable lending terms to the Russian military and plays along with Russian propaganda, calling the war a so-called "special military operation".
