Ukraine's youth judo team will not take part in the World Judo Juniors Championship due to the admission of Russian athletes.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Judo Federation.

President of the Ukrainian Judo Federation, Mykhailo Koshliak, said the International Judo Federation had allowed seven Russian athletes, including an active-duty military serviceman, to compete in neutral status.

"I want to emphasise once again: my position as President of the Federation and the position of the Presidium of the National Federation regarding such decisions of the Federation is unchanged. And it will remain unchanged as long as there is a war in Ukraine, as long as people die every day. Teams from aggressor countries have no place in world sport," said the President of the Ukrainian Federation.

The World Judo Championships among athletes under the age of 21 will take place in Odivelas, Portugal, from October 4 to 8.

It will be recalled that the President of the International Judo Federation, Marius Wieser said that by allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete, the Federation is helping to save lives.
