Ukraine will have only one attempt at a large-scale counter-offensive — Czech President Petr Pavel
Czech President Petr Pavel said in an interview with the Polish publication Rzeczpospolita that many countries and politicians expect some progress this year.
"I believe that Ukraine will have only one attempt to launch a major counter-offensive. Therefore, if it decides to launch a major counter-offensive and fails, it will be extremely difficult to obtain funds for the next one," the Czech leader said.
The Czech President added that the allies should not push Kyiv in any direction and encourage the Ukrainian authorities to make concessions.
"I would never encourage Ukraine to give up part of its territory, to make any concessions. If Ukrainians ever decide to do that, it will be their decision alone," Pavel said.
The Czech President also said that partners can support Ukrainians, but they cannot direct Ukraine's actions.
"We can only provide them with our help. Anything that will help them achieve their goals. If the goal is to liberate the entire territory, let's give them everything they need," Pavel said.
