Ukraine returns three Ukrainian prisoners of war from Hungary

Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko says that the Ukrainian prisoners of war are already on Ukrainian territory and are being provided with all possible support.

Ukrainian diplomats are working on the return of other military personnel who were sent from Russia to Hungary.

As a reminder, Hungary is holding in isolation 11 Ukrainian prisoners of war, whom Russia transferred to the Hungarian side without Ukraine's knowledge.

The prisoners of war do not have access to open sources of information, their communication with their families takes place in the presence of third parties, and they are denied contact with the Ukrainian Embassy.

Instead, Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjártó states that Hungary as a state was not involved in the transfer of 11 Ukrainian prisoners of war from Russia.  According to him, the negotiations were conducted by religious organisations.

He also adds that the prisoners of war are allegedly "free to move around in Hungary, and if they want to contact the Ukrainian authorities, they are free to do so".
