Ukraine resumes electricity exports

Ukraine resumes electricity exports

As the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reports, Minister Herman Halushchenko signed a document allowing the resumption of electricity exports in the face of a surplus of generating capacity.

The Ukrainian power system has been operating without consumer restrictions and with a power reserve for almost two months.

"The most difficult winter is over. The next step is to start exporting electricity, allowing us to attract additional financial resources for reconstructing the destroyed and damaged energy infrastructure," Halushchenko says.

The Minister emphasised that the electricity needs of Ukrainian consumers are still a priority.

As long as Ukrainian consumers are supplied with electricity, exports are provided. The exports may be suspended if the situation changes.

The export capacity authorised by the European network of transmission system operators ENTSO-E is 400 mW. However, actual export volumes may vary depending on the time of day and market conditions.

From June to October 11, 2022, Ukraine exported electricity to Moldova and the EU. 2.6 billion kilowatt-hours were sold during this period.
