Ukraine files a lawsuit against Iran in the International Court of Justice for the downing of a Boeing 737 passenger plane

Members of the International Coordination and Response Group for the victims of Flight PS752, which was shot down in 2020, are filing a lawsuit against Iran for the downing of a passenger plane at the International Court of Justice.

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The Coordination Group includes Canada, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. Citizens of these countries died in the plane crash.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Iran and the Coordination Group had not reached an agreement on arbitration in accordance with Article 14 of the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Civil Aviation.

On 8 January 2020, a Boeing 737 passenger plane of Ukraine International Airlines was shot down near the Iranian capital. All 167 passengers and 9 crew members were killed.

Iran acknowledged that the plane had been shot down by air defence forces by mistake.
