Thirteen injured in Kharkiv during four shellings over the day
On the night of October 28, Russia used 100 Shahed combat UAVs and unidentified drones. Air defences operated in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Kirovohrad and Cherkasy regions.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported shooting down 66 Russian UAVs. In addition, 24 Russian drones lost radar contact, four of them flew in the direction of Russia and Belarus.
In the Kharkiv region, bordering Russia in the east of Ukraine, the Russians attacked Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Kruhliakivka and Kupiansk. Twenty-one civilians were wounded, including five children. Apartment blocks, private houses, four cars, outbuildings, administrative buildings, and a private enterprise were damaged.
In the Donetsk region, partially occupied since 2014 and located on the frontline in the east of Ukraine, the Russian army shelled Kostiantynivka, Myrnohrad, Malynivka, Markove, Oleksiyivka and Uspenivka. One civilian was wounded. Thirty-five residential buildings, an administrative building, a gas pipeline, power grids, an educational institution and two civilian cars were damaged.
In the Sumy region, bordering Russia to the north, the Russians fired 116 times at the Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Sloboda, Hlukhiv, Shalyhyne, Esman, Seredyna-Buda, Svesa, Znob-Novhorod communities and the Konotop district. One person was wounded. The drone strikes damaged critical energy infrastructure, a private house and a car.
Russians conducted 378 strikes on settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, partially occupied in the south since 2022: Mala Tokmachka, Lobkove, Huliaipole, Malynivka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Novodarivka, Malynivka, Solodky and Zelenyi Hai. Two civilians were wounded in the shelling. The regional military administration received seven reports of the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure.
In the Mykolaiv region, south of Ukraine, Russia shelled the Kutsurub and Ochakiv communities. One civilian was killed. The drone strikes destroyed the car of the police officers who responded to the call, but the policemen were not injured. Three private houses, outbuildings, a car and a bike were also damaged. The shelling caused two fires to break out in the open.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, south-central Ukraine, the Russians attacked the Nikopol, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets, Pokrovsk, Myrove and Zelenodolsk communities. Infrastructure, businesses, two five-storey buildings, nine private houses, outbuildings, three garages, a power line and a gas pipeline were damaged. No casualties were reported.
In the Kherson region, south of Ukraine, the Russian army shelled Kherson, Komyshany, Bilozerka, Inzhenerne, Dniprovske, Sofiyivka, Stanislav, Shyroka Balka, Tomyna Balka, Oleksandrivka, Antonivka, Sadove, Prydniprovske, Poniativka, Mykilske, Beryslav, Novovorontsovka, Osokorivka and Trudoliubivka. Five civilians were killed and 13 others were injured, including a child. Critical infrastructure facilities, a medical facility, six multi-storey buildings, 22 private houses, outbuildings, a garage, a gas pipeline, private and agricultural vehicles were damaged.
In the Chernihiv region, bordering Belarus and Russia to the north, Russia shelled Novhorod-Siverskyi, Snovske and Semenivka communities. In total, border guards recorded 103 explosions. No casualties were reported.
In the Luhansk region, almost completely occupied, the Russians attacked Makiivka, Balka Zhuravka and Novoyehorivka with artillery, aircraft and 22 drones. The regional military administration reported no casualties.
